The ostrich is the fastest bird in the world. The ostrich’s large eyes, which are bigger than its brain, provide it with excellent vision. The ostrich is a flightless bird species native to certain large areas in Africa. It is one of the two remaining species of ostriches, the only living member of the genus Struthio within the ratite bird order.

Ostriches are confined to the dry and sandy regions of central and southern Africa.
