Badgers live in large family groups in burrows underground called “sets.” If the set is inhabited, it is usually neat and clean with an entrance marked by a pile of used bedding materials made up of dry grass and leaves. There is also a smelly hole nearby that is used by the badgers as a toilet!
They have strong front legs, which they use for digging for food. Cubs are born in January or February but spend the first few months underground, only emerging in the spring when it is slightly warmer.
