The cassowary is one of the most dangerous birds in the world. Cassowary eggs are green, and they nest on the ground. Cassowaries are classified as ratites, which are flightless birds without a keel on their sternum bones. They originate from the tropical forests of New Guinea, the Moluccas, and northeastern Australia. There are three species of cassowary that still exist.

Cassowaries prefer fallen fruit, but they will also eat small vertebrates, invertebrates, fungi, carrion, and plants. Over 238 plant species have been recorded in the diet of the southern cassowary.
Habitat
Cassowaries are primarily found in rainforests, but they also use forests, Melaleuca swamps, mangroves, and beaches as food sources and habitat connectors between more suitable sites. Areas with a mix of these environments are preferred by cassowaries living near coastal areas.
