Chinese Water Dragon

The body and tail of this lizard are taller than wide, with long and muscular legs. They have sharp claws on each foot. Both genders have enlarged scales along the spine. The external ear (tympanum) is partially visible, with the edges covered by scales. They have rows of large white scales along the lower jaw. The Chinese Water Dragon is typically bright green but can change to brown or grey when stressed. On the underside of the body, they have pale-colored scales, while the throat is yellow or orange, especially in adult males.

Habitat

This lizard is semi-arboreal, often found perched on branches near watercourses. They can escape by jumping into the water if disturbed. In the wild, they can be found in southern China and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Burma).
